Big Medium does more than make it easy to add and edit webpages for your site: it gives your site interactive tools and design elements.

Big Medium gives your site a design and technology facelift, offering your visitors a set of clean and consistent tools and design elements that make it easier for them to use the site and understand its content.

Fresh, up-to-date links

Every time you add an article to your website, Big Medium automatically updates your site to include links to the new page, listing the link on your homepage and section pages so that your visitors can easily see what's new on the site. Big Medium can also highlight a featured article as the site's "spotlight article" to draw special attention to particular content on your website.

You can customize Big Medium's settings to adjust the number of article links are displayed on the homepage and section pages of your site. Big Medium always displays the most recent articles on those pages and, when it fills the article "quota" for those pages, Big Medium displays any remaining article links on archive pages. Every article on the site remains available for easy browsing by your site's visitors, while Big Medium constantly keeps the site's main pages fresh with the latest links.

Content tools

Put "e-mail this article" and "printer-friendly" links on every article page, allowing your users to conveniently share and save the content.

Article bylines are automatically linked to allow users to e-mail the author. As a spam-prevention feature, you can set Big Medium to present users with an e-mail form instead of sharing the author's e-mail directly. Big Medium sends the e-mail behind the scenes, without sharing the e-mail address with the public.

Images

Include an unlimited number of images on every article page, uploading the image files directly from your hard drive using your web browser. You determine exactly where you would like the image to appear in the article, and the text flows right around it.

You can also include images to accompany article links on the homepage or section pages of your site. A "spotlight" image can accompany the site's featured article, and thumbnail images can accompany other links.

Pullquotes

Pullquotes add visual variety to your site.

Include pullquotes on your article pages to create colorful design elements and emphasize key ideas. Pullquotes are large-font snippets of text from the article that are inserted into the page with the article text flowing around them.

Related links

Big Medium can present links to related information in a consistent location and format on every article page. Although you can also include an unlimited number of links within the text of the article as well, the "related links" section allows you to consolidate all links in a single place on the page for easy browsing.

Latest articles

Encourage your site's visitors to spend more time on your site by making it easier for them to find additional content. Big Medium can add a "latest articles" list to your article pages, allowing your visitors to browse links to the most recent articles from that section of the site.

Navigation bars

Big Medium can manage your site's navigation for you, creating text or graphical navigation for your site's main sections and subsections. Big Medium's graphic navigation bars include "rollover" graphics that change as the cursor passes over them. And the software automatically updates your site navigation every time you add a new section, making it easy to update your site as it grows and evolves.

News feeds

Big Medium's content-syndication features allow you to build your own news feeds and reach beyond the boundaries of your website to stay connected to your audience even when they are not browsing your site.
