Manage Multiple Websites
With just a single installation of Big Medium, you can manage the content and design of an unlimited number of sites on your server.

Big Medium makes it easy to maintain multiple websites, providing a single interface for managing the content and design of all of your sites. Every site has its own content and its own look and feel, completely independent of the other sites in the system.

The result: The low price of a single Big Medium installation buys you a content management system for an unlimited number of websites on your server.

Adding new sites is easy

Big Medium users with administrator privileges can add new sites to Big Medium by clicking the "New Site" link in the left-column menu of the Big Medium control panel. (Please note that this option is only available in the full version of Big Medium and is not available in this demo version).

After clicking "New Site," Big Medium prompts the administrator to supply basic information about the new site and where its web directory is located. After supplying this information, sections should be created and templates loaded via the section editor.

Domain names for the new sites

Check with your server administrator or hosting service about the possibility of setting up your new sites with their own domain names. To do this, the server administrator must establish a new virtual host record in the web server software for your server; he or she will need to know the absolute paths of the homepage and page directories for the new site in order to do this.

If you do not set up custom domain names for the new sites, the new sites will still be accessible through the main domain name of your server. For example, you might choose to establish your new site in the "newsite" directory of your web root directory, making the new site accessible at this URL:

http://www.yoursite.com/newsite/

Big Medium gives you control over which users can edit which sites.

Password protection for every site

Administrators and webmasters can control permission for updating each site, granting editing and publishing privileges to individual accounts. So, even if your Big Medium system manages hundreds of websites, you can maintain careful control over which users can edit which sites. When signing into Big Medium, users are presented only with the sites for which they have editing privileges.
